The League 1 domestic season will be completed in two months time; however there are still a lot of things to be decided, including the 09/10 League 1 golden boot winner. Five players are in the running for the Nick Dzubnar Jersey prestigious award, theyare Rickie Lambert, Lee Barnard, Jermaine Beckford, Grant Holt and Billy Paynter. Three players are currently level on 21 goals whileBilly Paynter sits in 5th place on 19 goals,a margin which separates five players from just two goals.Until last night the Southampton strike pairing of Rickie Lambert and LeeBarnard were leading theLeague 1 goalscoring chart, however after Jermaine Beckford netted two goals last night against Tranmere, the Leeds hitmanhas currently joined Lambert and Barnard on 21 goals. RickieLambert though has always been a goalscoring predator, and last season he finished as the joint winner of the League 1 golden boot along with Simon Cox who is now plying his trade with West Brom. Lambert was playing for Bristol Rovers then, however he decided to joinsouth coast side Southampton in the summer, and this season he has proved to bean instant hit with the Saints faithful. Considering Lambert is the joint top scorer in League 1, he has failed to net a hat-trick in the League this season; on the other hand he has scored three doubles which were netted against mediocre opposition.Lee Barnard has had a cracking season, currently on a total of 21 goals most of whichwere scored while playing for Southend, Barnard has currently bonded a great partnership withSouthampton striker Rickie Lambert, as the former Southend man signed for the Saints in the January transfer window. While playing for Southampton, Barnard has been able to add six goals to his tally Derrick Mason Jersey this season, also for the striker he scored in Southamptonslast match against Tranmere Rovers, however he was on the losing side asAlanPardews sideweredefeated 2-1. Barnard also has a League 1 hat-trick beside his name as he scored three goalswhile playing for Southend against Leyton Orient in early September.Jermaine Beckford Anthony Firkser Jersey has always been noted as a goalscorer, and this season he has shown yet again why he is one of League 1s better players. Currently on 21 goals like Lambert and Barnard, Jermaine will always be remembered for scoring the winner at Old Trafford in this years FA Cup third round, which sparked interest from a number of Premiership and Championship clubs including Everton, Newcastle and West Brom. In the League though, Beckford has just suffered a blip ofform, however after going eight games without a goal, the Leeds frontman scored in a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the weekend, and last night he was able to add two goals to his League 1 tally as he helped Leeds secure a 4-1 away win at Tranmere. It is highly likely that Jermaine Beckford will switch clubs at the end of this season, and it would be brilliant if Beckford secured the League 1 golden boot in his last ever season with Racey McMath Jersey Leeds United.Norwich powerhouse Grant Holt has had a brilliant debut season with the Canaries, as his 20 league goals have helpedNorwich sustain top spot in the League 1 ladder. The season is far from over but for Norwich they are currently four points clear of 2nd place Leeds. Holtand fellow striker partner Chris Martin are a force to be reckoned with, as they have given League 1 defenders all sorts of scares, and in my view they are the deadliest strike partners in the whole ofCoca Cola League 1. Grant Holt is a brilliant football player, he has got strength, a decent shot and he can score goals,a typical footballing striker. Grant Holt could well secure the League 1s golden boot at the end of the 09/10 campaign.Lastly, Swindon Town striker BillyPaynter has been banging Anthony Rush Jersey in the goals for fun this season. Currently on 19 goals, Paynter has helped steer Swindon into a play-off place.Under the guidance of Danny Wilson, Swindonhave undoubtedly been the surprise package of League 1, and considering they only had two strikers to choose fromaroundthe busy Christmas period, The Robins were able to cope very well. Paynter has been deadlyin front goal and so has his strike partner Charlie Austin, between them this season they have been able to score 32 league goals this campaign, but its Paynter who is leading the top goalscoring race. Paynteris still in with a golden chance for securing that lucrative boot at the end of this season.
